Delirium’s 5 saddest moments of LOST season 5

I did this last year for Season 4. I also did it a lot earlier and before the season was over. But this time I decided to wait a little longer to see if any particular moments I didn’t consider before really stuck out for me. Or even to wait and see if a particular scene was sad in hindsight. I found this season really lacked the *tears* of past seasons. Especially during the first parts of the season. Remember, though, these are all in my opinion and I’d love to hear your thoughts. Even if they are to complain about something I didn’t have on my list. After the jump. Read the rest of this entry »

Delirium’s Most Anticipated Games of the Immediate to Not-so-Immediate Future

Let’s face it: Sometimes, there just aren’t enough games in a year that are truly stand-out. And, let’s face it, someone is going to want to argue with me on that. And, let’s face it, there’s going to be someone who wants to argue with them about that. With E3 just ending, I figure what better time to release my, Delirium’s, most anticipated games of the immediate to not-so-immediate future. The games range from 2009 to 2010, unless there’s some kind of huge delay on one of them. So, let’s get started. Least anticipated to most anticipated, of course. List after the jump. The Top Five Unreleased Comics of PoB

As you may or may not know, PoB as a team of comic makers has been around for a little bit over two years. As with any Garry’s Mod team of comic makers, many comics were cancelled or postponed, to never see the light of day.
Because I was bored, I decided to make a short list of the top five unreleased comics of Phenomena on Break – the ones that everyone in the forum has heard of, in some way. Keep in mind that we all have a lot more comics that were never released or even finished – I’m only focusing on the best-known ones.
These five comics will be rated according to the date they were announced – that is, how long ago they were first mentioned. So, a comic that’s been due for about six months won’t be as high as one that was first referred to around a year ago. It’s not like there’s any other comparison term anyway, except maybe hype.

Alright, enough babbling, let’s do this.

5. Wrath of the LooshKin

The first one really was released on that weekend. The following issues... well, we're still waiting.
The first one really was released on that weekend. The following issues… well, we’re still waiting.

Author: Looshkin
Announcement Date: December 2nd, 2008

(Apparently) inspired by the similarities between his username and the name of WoW’s Lich King, Looshkin created “World of PoBCraft: Wrath of the LooshKin” to parody his own unhealthy obsession with the game.
The story follows the attempts of Nemi, Delirium, and a soon-to-be-dead Mythos as they try to talk Looshkin off his obsession, only to face his wrath. Confronted with the delusional yet powerful “LooshKin”, Nemi and Delirium decide to attack their pal the best way, by defeating him at his home turf – WoW itself.
Unlike the other comics in this list, “Wrath of the LooshKin” actually was released – its first issue, anyway. Afterwards, Looshkin effectively forgot the series, and the second issue is yet to be seen by mortal eyes.

4. ENDGAME

The end can't come soon enough.

The end can't come soon enough.

Author: Mythos
Announcement Date: June 12th, 2008

Yes, my own comic is at number four. “Only at number four?!”, some might ask. Indeed it is.
Almost one year ago, I promised an epic ending to the M(a)cDonald’s/Phenomena On Break War, a little event we had for fun, sparked by Nemi’s “Shush #4″. This comic, entitled “ENDGAME“, initially seemed an easy task – but delays with the maps I needed from Erik, coupled with my own loss of interest in the title, led to its subsequent delays. There’s even been two different pranks on the forums because of it.
However, I’ve recently made some progress with the comic and Erik finally finished his map, so… who knows? Maybe the end is close enough.

3. SHUSH #10

Nemi's return has been a long overdue one.

Nemi's return has been a long overdue one.

Author: Nemi
Announcement Date: June 5th, 2008

A week older than “ENDGAME”, “Shush #10” – the season finale of “Shush”’s first arc – was teased by Nemi alongside “Shush #9″. According to Nemi, this would be his magnum opus, apparently an epic trip to “another world” – France.
Nemi kept hyping the comic, but eventually moved on, releasing the eleventh issue while assuring readers that the tenth one would come.
Nobody knows if it was only a big in-joke pulled on us by Nemi or an actual comic he never got to finish, but  the truth is that “Shush #10″ has yet to see the light of day.

2. The PoB/CR-O Finale

"Soon" times infinite equals "Never".

"Soon" times infinite equals "Never".

Author: Looshkin
Announcement Date: March 26th, 2008

When this comic was announced, Phenomena On Break was all the rage on Garry’s Mod forums, with the highly-successful, even though disorganized, “PoB/CR-O War” seeing participation of various members, and even guests, of PoB.
Looshkin, who began the War, had been building up its story arc from the very beginning, weaving a great sci-fi plot involving Looshklones, resurrections, treachery, espionage, and the original “Vorti-Loosh” skin from long ago. The finale promised to be an exciting conclusion, full of unexpected twists and turns – a last stand against the horde of Looshkin clones.
Unfortunately, the lack of a single model disrupted Looshkin’s plans, and this finale has yet to be released, making it the second most awaited comic of PoB. The first…

1. Ellevus

The Longest of Waits.

The Longest of Waits.

Author: Delirium
Announcement Date: October 20th, 2007

If you’ve ever heard of “Ellevus“, you know there was no other option for first place; if you didn’t, well, then you either haven’t been on PoB for long, or you have proof of how long the wait has been.
“Ellevus” started off back when Phenomena On Break was just me and Delirium. The story, teased through a great series of “I was a…” ads, connected the readers who signed up for appearances with original characters, all survivors of an invasion by a mysterious force known only as “Mantis”.
Ever since its first announcement, back in 2007, “Ellevus” has seen countless teasers and iterations, some more or less similar to the original concept, others connected more to “Fuel On Fire” in storyline. Whether it’ll ever be made or not, one thing’s for certain: “Ellevus” is PoB’s greatest comic-to-never-be, just like it would have been the greatest had it been made.

And that wraps it up. I found this a fun trip down PoB’s Memory Lane, and I might eventually do something similar again, especially if your response is positive. Post your thoughts in the comments section – and, if you’re curious or as bored as I was, go check the forums for references to these unreleased comics! :D

E3 Confirmation – Left 4 Dead 2

Yep, it’s true. The rumor we heard has been confirmed and there has been a trailer that was released. Unfortunatly there’s no Youtube link, so you gotta dead with this until i upload them to Youtube.

Trailer:

Gameplay footage:

Along with it they released the box art of the game and a poster image.

So yeah? What’s different besides what appears to be a different setting (New Orleans)? Some new stuff on the AI director.

“Introducing the AI Director 2.0, L4D’s dynamic gameplay is taken to the next level by giving the Director the ability to procedurally change weather effects, world objects, and pathways in addition to tailoring the enemy population, effects, and sounds to match the players’ performance. The result is a unique game session custom fitted to provide a satisfying and uniquely challenging experience each time the game is played.

Featuring new Survivors, boss zombies, weapons, and items, Left 4 Dead 2 offers a much larger game than the original with more co-operative campaigns, more Versus campaigns, and maps for Survival mode available at launch.”

Looks interesting. The release date says Nov. 17th, close to the date of Left 4 Dead’s launch. I wonder if it will be this year though.

What I Learned: Lost Season Finale “The Incident” part 1

wil-lostWhen I heard that the season 5 finale was going to be a game changer and the ending was going to be a big one, I couldn’t imagine what it could be. Of course, there is the twenty-ton elephant known as Jughead in the room but could that really be the big ending? But before I get to that, let’s find out what I learned. This may be a bit different because I’m going to do a little guessing work as well. This article assumes you have already seen the episode or know a hell of a lot about the LOST universe. In this first part, I will dig into the Locke/Ajira/Jacob side of the story. A two hour show validates a two part What I Learned. Part 2, the Dharma Initative, can be found here. (Images to come)
